Drumline Captain Christian Matson did the Nick Rail Clinic (August 2 in Riverside). Another leader who did summer music study, Courtney Buffington did UCLA Summer Music study. Band Council did both the May Etiwanda Leadership Workshop and the August BHS Band Leadership Workshop. *The November 21 - 24, 2008 WIBC Honor Band/Clinic in Seattle, Washington. Six of our members won seats in the WIBC honor bands: Jacob Dent, Keith DeRuiter, Alicia Freeman, Garrett McDonald, David Smith and Kayla Vaughn.
January 1st, our Drum Major Katelyn Paris, tuba player Karleen Moran and Drumline Captain Chris Matson performed with the honor band in the Tournament of Roses Parade! January 2009, Sarah Askew, Alicia Freeman and Janelle Johnson played with the CSULA First Chair Honor Band. We're celebrating a lot of talented band members.
This year, we won 2nd place at the Duarte Route 66 Parade, 2nd place band @Barstow's field tournament and 5th at the West High School Showcase in Bakersfield. On Saturday, October 18,
we did the UCLA High School Band Day @the Rose Bowl. We mostly play in our community (home football games, parades, Relay for Life) and host a SCSBOA Solo/Ensemble Festival (2009 F1 and PPAC.recaps online).

Advanced planning: Band camp is August 10 - 14, 7am to noon daily plus Saturday, August 15, 7am to 7pm (yes, new times). Uniform-fitting day is also on Saturday, August 15, but from 8am to noon (Seniors first hour, Juniors @9am, etc.). The Symphonic Band fee is $50 (not Cadets) and all need shoes ($30) and a t-shirt ($10). Colorguard members pay $100 extra for their uniforms.
