Blood Drive
The Houchin Blood Mobile will be on campus Friday, November 14th. If you are at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, you can donate blood and help save a life. Ask your history, economics, or government teacher for the permission slips to sign up. If you have any questions, come to P2. Forms are due November 7th to P2.

Band and Color Guard
Congratulations to the Marching Band and Color Guard for placing first in their division at the Centennial High School Field Tournament in Corona. They will be traveling to Bakersfield this weekend for their next competition, wish them luck!

Fall Play Tickets
The BHS Drama Department’s fall production, a collection of short Shakespearean plays, opens on Friday, November 7, but you can buy your tickets now! Tickets are $10 and are available at PAC5 after school and from cast and crew members. You can also buy them at the box office. No matter where you get it, a ten dollar ticket for an evening of Shakespeare is a deal!

Foolish Things Club
Check out our club today at lunch in room I2(snacks are provided). Our purpose is to provide an on-campus Bible study for students to encounter the teachings of Biblical Christianity. Also, a question and answer session and opportunities to get to know other students. All are welcome!

Red Ribbon Week
From October 27th to October 31st, Burroughs celebrates Red Ribbon Week to spread awareness about the dangers of drugs. Red Ribbon Week started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique Camarena, who was brutally murdered in 1985 by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. After his death, people started wearing red ribbons to honor Enriques’s sacrifice. Remember, Life is a puzzle, solve it drug-free!

Volleyball
Volleyball will be playing a first round CIF playoff game tonight at Burroughs! Gym doors open at 4PM and the game starts at 5PM. As this is a CIF playoff game, all tickets must be purchased through GoFan. General admission is $13.60. High school students and children ate $7.50. CIF does not allow any passes(ASB, MRL Coaches, Staff passes, season passes) to be used at these games. Everyone must have a ticket. There will be no ticket sales at the door. ASVAB Interpretation
Today at lunch, 12:00 noon, Staff Sergeant Moreno will be in the library to hand out the results and provide an interpretation of the ASVAB scores for all students who took the exam on October 1st. The interpretation is electronic, so bring your Chromebooks. Please see Mr. Ostermann if you have any questions regarding the ASVAB interpretation.

🎶 Today marked a special milestone at China Lake Junior High — the debut performance of our Beginning Orchestra! While this annual tradition has long celebrated the musical journey of our youngest performers, this was the very first time it took place at the newly established China Lake Junior High. A truly historic moment! 🎻✨
Under the direction of Ms. Laura Olinger, the orchestra delivered a memorable performance. Ms. Olinger shared her excitement about the size of the ensemble. She credited the strong support of the music program throughout Sierra Sands Unified School District for making it all possible.

Spirit Day
Cancer Awareness Day is tomorrow, October 3rd. Wear any color to show support for cancer awareness. Remember to follow the school dress code and be school appropriate.

Cross Club
Have you ever felt like you don’t fit in? This is your place, CROSS Club is all about community, and discovering what it means to be fully accepted-just as you are. See you today, October 2nd, during lunch in D22. Everyone is welcome! Pizza will be provided.

HOCO Dance Tickets
Homecoming dance tickets go on sale today, October 2nd, and end on Thursday, October 16th. The cost is 15$ with ASB or $20 without, but make sure to get them early! The price will go up on October 9th to $20 with ASB and $25 without. Last chance for tickets will be on October 16th for $25 with ASB and $30 without. There will be no ticket sales at the door. Library fines must be paid, and you must have no more than 4 demerits to attend. You can purchase tickets at the finance office, starting this Thursday. Please remember to bring your ID when purchasing tickets, and also to the door when attending the dance.

Heart Club
We meet today at lunch in C13. Hope to see you there!

Friends of Rachel
We meet today in L31 during lunch. Make sure to bring your lunch with you! Everyone is welcome. If you are interested in making a positive impact on campus and out in the community, Friends of Rachel is the club for you!

F.O.R. Coat Drive
Friends of Rachel is organizing a coat drive in partnership with the Salvation Army. F.O.R. will be collecting winter coats for the families in need in our community. We will accept new and used coats, however, please make sure the coats are clean and in good condition before donating them. Students can drop off their donated coats with Ms. McDonald in L31 October 3rd- October 14th.

Attention all Powder Puff players and cheerleaders!
The big game is coming up this month, which means it’s time to get to work! Starting on Monday ,10/6, all powder puff teams will be practicing at Burroughs. Even though Monday is a non school day, there is still practice. Freshman and sophomores will play on the JV baseball field, and juniors and seniors will practice on the practice football field at BHS. All practices are from 3:00-5:15PM.

FCA
This Friday, October 3rd, FCA will be meeting in the gym during lunch. Come and join us for food, fellowship, and a message. Everyone is welcome! We look forward to seeing you.

Multicultural Club
Do you love your culture? Do you want to learn about other people’s culture? Join Multicultural Club! Multicultural embraces and celebrates cultural diversity in an inclusive environment. We have cultural spotlights, field trips, bake sales, and much more! Bring your friends and come check us out at our meeting TODAY, October 1st, in Mrs Godinez’s room , L34, during lunch. We’ll be discussing our upcoming club potluck that you won’t want to miss out on!

SAT Testing
For those of you who signed up for the October 4th SAT testing, please come to C Hall at 7:30 in the morning with your ID card, admission ticket, charged chrome book, pencils, calculator, and a drink/snack. See you there.
